Immunity is the ability of an organism to resist a particular infection or toxin by the action of specific antibodies or sensitized white blood cells . In layman language you can it is the capacity to fight with diseases and infections we face in our lives.

So how can you improve your body’s immune system?? On the whole, your immune system does a remarkable job of defending you against disease-causing microorganisms. But sometimes it fails. The immune system is precisely a system, not a single thing. To function well, it requires balance and harmony. For now, there are no scientifically proven direct links between lifestyle and enhanced immune function. Our lifestyle has changed a lot since a decade. So the first line of defense is to choose a healthy and happy lifestyle. With a healthy lifestyle, not only your immune system would be secure but also every part of your body will work better.Reasons for failure of your immune system could be many!!!! Here we are with the 5 things that weaken your immune system .


It is said to be the dangerous combo for one’s body. It has been discovered that both chronic smoking and drinking together causes linked and unlinked injuries to the brain. These are both functional and neurobiological injuries. This is bad news for alcoholics, as they usually not only drink in excess; they often smoke in excess as well. Cigerrates contain nicotine which causes a lot of harm to your body thus smoking weakens the immune system at a very increasing rate. Every day more and more people try their best to quit smoking, but not everybody is successful. One of the biggest problems people face when they decide to quit smoking is drinking. We must be aware that both harm our body and result in decreasing our life expectancy.


Guys exercising is must 5 times a week is enough to get a healthy body and a healthy soul. The importance of physical exercise on our body’s immune system and well-being cannot be overemphasized. Exercises boosts our metabolism, blood circulation and helps the lungs to function better. Our body is able to flush out pathogens as well as other bacteria and virus. Exercising outdoors exposes us to sunlight, fresh air and vitamin D. Hence if heavy exercise is not possible, then a brisk walk in the open can be very helpful.


Persistent or chronic stress can wreak havoc on the body’s immune system. Chronic stress leads to higher cortisol production leading to inflammation. This further has a cascading effect on the immune system sending it in on overdrive. Such a response from the body can complicate allergies and lead to diseases germinating out of autoimmunity. Meditation, deep breathing exercises and various forms of yoga are known to be effective in combating stress. According to studies, meditation also leads to an increase in anti-infection antibodies and activates the region of the brain responsible for immunity.


Fruits and vegetables contain vitamins and minerals and these are capable of nutritionally boosting immunity. A diet rich in vegetables and fruits can lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, prevent some types of cancer, lower risk of eye and digestive problems, and have a positive effect upon blood sugar, which can help keep appetite in check. Eating non-starchy vegetables and fruits like apples, pears, and green leafy vegetables may even promote weight loss. Eating healthy fruits and vegetables boosts the immune system and helps in functioning properly and effectively.  


Sleeping 6 hours a day is very essential for a human body. Sleep is the phase during which our body relaxes, relieves and recovers from all kind of mental, physical and emotional stress and disturbances. Inadequate sleep doesn’t allow the body’s immune system to function properly and thus leading to inflammation. Thus sleeping is must for a human body. A good night’s sleep is incredibly important for your health and is as important as exercising and eating healthy. Poor sleep is also strongly linked to weight gain and if your are overweight your body;s immune system will slow down and thus your body will be prone to diseased.
